World Under 10 Champion FIDE Master
Girish Arun Kaushik had to remain
content with the third place at the conclusion
of the National Under 11 Championships
organised in Kozhikode, Kerala.
Girish finished with 8.5 points in the 11 round
tournament. The winner was Shiven Khosla
of Maharashtra who finished with 9 points. He
edged out Sayantan Das of West Bengal by
virtue of a better progressive tiebreak score.
Top seeded G.V. Sai Krishna performed much
below expectations and finished 12th.
Girish's next tournament is the World Youth
Chess Championships in Antalya, Turkey
next month. Karnataka chess lovers will hope
that he will bring greater laurels for the state
and the country in this event.
